My Daughter’s Dedication

Filed under: Fun Stuff — Administrator @ 4:11 am

For anyone that doesn’t know my daughter is 8 1/2 years old and has more dedication than most adults. She started swimming for a swim team a few cities up the road back in late September. It has now been four months since she missed a swim practice. Yep… practice is five days a week and she made the last 85+ consecutive practices.

We even told her a few months ago she could take the day off and go to Disneyland, she looked at my wife and I and said “but I cannot miss practice”. What kid doesn’t want to go to Disneyland for the day? Well, I’m going to tell you what type of kid.

My daughter is super competitive, the kind of kid you see racing every set in practice just so she can beat everyone in her group. The kind of kid that when she gets out of practice she asks her mother which kids cheated during practice. (pulling on lane lines) She has been moved up in the past few months several times into different swim groups, each time quickly moving towards the top of the group she moves too. I’m wouldn’t say my daughter is the fastest swimmer, because she is not. There are kids that have been swimming for 3-4 times as long but that’s not the point of this blog post.

At 8 years old she is so dedicated to her sport, such dedication that you rarely find in adults nowadays let alone an 8 year old. She has goals already set, she tells my wife and I she wants to go to JO’s (Junior Olympics) just like my wife did when she was young. I have no doubt within the next year or so she can reach that goal.

MSN Search Get a Clue

Filed under: Fun Stuff — Administrator @ 4:18 pm

I hardly ever look at the Yahoo or MSN SERPS but today was checking out a few things and noticed how crappy MSN is. Last night I watched the popular American Idol show so I decided to go search for American Idol on the three major search engines. It turns out MSN has no clue on how to handle sub domains. 15 out of the top 20 search results for American Idol are sub domains for americanidol.com.

Sub domains are not separate websites they are just pages or different categories to a website. There is no reason for any search engine to show more than two per results page. You would think with all the money Microsoft has they would hire smart people to run their search division.

Great Ad on Google DreamHost Sucks!

Filed under: Fun Stuff — Administrator @ 4:38 pm

The ad says “Overcharged? Swith Host, Accurate Billing” too funny!

Yesterday DreamHost had overcharged customers to the tune of $7.5 Million dollars. Customers were overcharged between $100 to as much as $9,000 and today we found a great advertisement on Google Adwords.

Props to McKremie.com for this inovative advertisement. It doesn’t say it but you can read between the lines on how great of a company DreamHost is.

The McKremie Web Hosting ad goes to a page were refugees of DreamHost can get one free month of hosting by using a coupon code.

Don’t Hire Uber SEO Company!

Filed under: Fun Stuff — Administrator @ 7:21 pm

This is a new an exciting SEO Company that is going to shake things up in the SEM world. I can see people signing up for the ” RAM Rotation Service” and the “Keyword Filtration Service” if they can afford the prices.

RAM Rotation Service
Did you know it’s important to rotate your RAM ever 20,000 hits? Most SEO’s (dumb asses) have no idea how important it is. Uber SEO Company knows that your RAM will start to show signs of wear spots and this could slow down the exceleration to the first page.

some of the methods are out there…

New logo! Nothing increass your search engine ranking like a new logo

there is even an Uber eBook for SEO….

In three simple to read pages you can learn as much about SEO as Jeremy Schoemaker knows. If we had a fourth page you might even get more knowledge than Andy Beard has.

As you read through the website be sure to look at the actual URL’s. :)

Internet Shopping Saves Time

Filed under: Fun Stuff — Administrator @ 3:58 pm

Since Christmas is almost here I still need a gift for my favorite (don’t tell the others) nephew. This is a good kid and has done well in school and stays out of trouble. I really wanted to get him something nice that he would appreciate. A few weeks back he was over my house and I heard him talking about how he needs a new cell. Something about the number “3″ wasn’t working that good and he had to press down really hard. So I thought, why not kids love cell phones and it’s something he could use everyday.

I know he has one of those T-mobile plans so I went in search for a t-mobile phone. I found one on the Internet that offered the Sidekick, Blackberry and all the other popular models. I called there customer service department to ensure I would receive it before the big holiday and they lady on the phone said I would get it in 2-3 business days. This was great news for me, no need to drive to a T-mobile store and waste my time. They even had a deal that saved me some money so I bought two cell phone accessories to go with the new phone.

Dad Your OLD!!!

Filed under: Fun Stuff, WTF? — Administrator @ 5:04 pm

My 8 year old daughter reminds me I’m getting. Last night we were watching the AMA Awards and Duran Duran started to play. BTW, my daughter is a huge music fan and can sing (word-for-word) just about any song on the music charts. So, when Duran Duran started singing she said she liked this song from this new band. She had been hearing it on Sirius satellite radio on the POP 1 channel. This is when I realized I was getting old.

I had to explain to her just because she never heard of Duran Duran before doesn’t make them a new band. I explained to her that Duran Duran has been around for more than 28 years. (yeah it’s been at least that long) I then dated myself when I told her I use to have them on record. She was like “what’s a record?” so I had to go into the long explanation and described to her what a record was. She really couldn’t believe we use to listen to music on these over size discs. Now I feel even older… thanks Lexy.

Eight Stereotypes of Dot Com Owners

Filed under: Fun Stuff — Administrator @ 5:03 am

I just got back (last night) from another vacation and I was thinking about how great it is to own a dot com company. Sure I worked my ass off the first year or two to build my online business up but now it’s a great life. When I was on vacation a few people had asked me what I do. This is never a simple answer (if you are a dot com owner you know) but I try to pawn off my favorite saying “we own a few dot com companies.” Why is this never a simple answer? People want to dig and find out what domains you own, how you make money and most of the time they even want a crash course so they can go do the same. I often feel stereotyped by people so here are the stereotypes and what really happens.

Eight Stereotypes of a Dot Com Owners:

1) Dot com owners have to be smart to think of a way to make money online.

2) Dot com owners must have taken classes on HTML and PHP from a local college.

3) Dot com owners where Atari t-shirts and work in their boxers all day.

4) Dot com owners can make tons of cash through the Internet.

5) Dot com owners work all the time and can never take vacations.

6) Dot com owners all have some kind of PORN sites.

7) Dot com owners start their business in their basement or garage.

8) Dot com owners have money to buy websites or money to create their own.

The actual truth:

1) I not dumb but I’m far away from smart… I just spent tons of hours reading the different ways to make money online.

2) I’ve never taken a class on HTML or PHP… I can do some very basic stuff in both but most of my sites are done by my great programmer Matt and a few web designers.

3) This one is true… I work in my boxers often and love it! I get up in the morning, put a t-shirt on and go downstairs to check sales for the day. The best part is I don’t have to set an alarm clock.

4) I know of some people in the business that after 2-3 years are only making $1200 per month. I also know of others making seven figures per month. How much you make online depends on so many things but most of my industry friends are in the $20K++ per month bracket.

5) I know of a few that run online stores and they have to be available to take orders and answer phones… but only a few. The others have websites that only need checking on every few days or as little as once per week. I have a handful of sites that I haven’t visited in numerous weeks and they still continue to make money… every day.

6) Not true! We don’t own *any* PORN sites. The last time I cashed a check at the bank this was the bank tellers 2nd question. Here is how the conversation went.

bank teller: WOW! Nice check… what does your company do?

me: We own a few dot com’s.

bank teller: Cool! Do you have any porn sites?

me: (head down low and shaking) No… we don’t.

7) OK… this is close. I started working out of an extra bedroom that I turned into an office. Then four months into working I had to move my stuff to the living room… when my step-son moved back home. Today I work out of my home office of my new house.

8) I started my first website with less than $600.00. My wife and I had about $550.00 saved up and we agreed to start our own business. From that original $600.00 investment I was able to more than triple my income at my day job. I spent the first year reinvesting most ALL of the profits to grow my online portfolio.

What do I do all day?

Filed under: Fun Stuff — Administrator @ 10:45 am

It’s been a while since I blogged anything… my wife had some major surgery two weeks ago so I’ve been busy with that. I really haven’t worked too much… done a few hours here and there. My content writer and my designer have done most of the work the past month or two. So what have I been doing?

I’ve spent a lot of time playing poker… a little Omaha and Texas Hold’em. I not a very good Omaha player… but I like the challenge of trying to learn the game better. I am however a decent Hold’em player. In the past I’ve never really tracked my winnings and losses playing poker it was more for fun. I have realized over the past few months that I do very well in cash games… so on the first of June I started tracking my winnings and losses. So far it’s early in the month but I can say that I’ve played everyday except for one and so far there are zero entries in the loss column. Now… I’m not going to quit my day job… wait I don’t really have one… anyway… keeping track has put a nice spin on the game for me.
