Checking Adsense & YPN is Like Crack

Filed under: Contextual Advertising — Administrator @ 5:12 am

I know I’m not alone but some days I can almost time the next YPN or Adsense update in my head. I sit here working away and then I realize it’s time to check the cash flow. It’s funny how often one logs in to their accounts to check and see how much they have made for the day. I sure there are some of us out there that check it over a dozen times per day. Why is it so addicting?

It’s pointless to login and check your accounts so much but people do. It’s not like you can actually change the SERPS from one hour to another. I have to admit there are times I’m one of those people. I spoke with a friend who said if someone is waiting for him… he has to check his accounts (he makes them wait) when he gets in for the day. He said there has been numerous occasions where he just walked in the door from getting food or whatnot and he goes straight for the PC to check his accounts. He hands his the food off to his wife… it’s like the PC has some sort of tractor beam pulling him in.

I’m sure he and I are not the only ones.

  1. You guys are definitely not the only ones doing that. I have to get a hold of myself sometime. I combat it by telling myself, “instead of wasting time checking stats, you could be using this time to make more money”. Nice blog you have here btw.

  2. funny brings back memories …

back in the day I was doing 20-25 credit card signups a day with CapOne AND getting about 10-15 dsl signups

i was checking cj stats 5 times an hour

it would be a lot worse if google was real-time

  4. When I use to run retail stores we would check our sales on an hourly basis… not much different. I love checking it’s nice to see the numbers add up.

  5. lol. I was definitely addicted. I guess once an addict always an addict, but I definitely try hard to only check 3-4 times in a 24 hour period… just so I can actually make progress on new projects!

  6. I hear you all. I’m pretty sure I check more than I work… pretty pathetic. My only comfort, and maybe some comfort to others is that both of my roomates play Halo even more than I sit on the computer. At least I’m making money!

I dont know how many times I thought to myself: You waste your time! But I did it every day the same way, the first I do every day is checking the stats and the last thing too…
